All About Paolo

Booklist has a nice review of Pump Six by Paolo Bacigalupi. Here’s a snippet: "These are not subtle stories. Bacigalupi makes no secret of his social attitudes, but he handles political commentary with grace and packs a lot of thought into quite a small space. These pieces aren’t just platforms for cultural critique; they’re solid, fascinating world building. […] Fortunately, Bacigalupi still allows the future some possibility for redemption. Every story is well worth rereading."
SCI FI Weekly has an interview with Paolo in which he discusses social stratification, using genre for political purposes, parent rage, and his writing process, among other things.
SF Awards Watch reports this year’s Seiun Award nominees for best works of SF in Japanese (including translations). Paolo’s story, "The Calorie Man" is a finalist in the "Foreign Story" category.
And to top things off, Paolo was one of the author guests at I-Con this weekend in Stony Brook, NY.
