Hardcover out May 3

Penny Royal, a berserk AI, runs rampant across galaxies in this fast-paced follow-up to Dark Intelligence. War Factory is the second book in Asher’s new Polity trilogy, and it continues the story of Thorvald Spear, Sverl, Blite, and Penny Royal. If you’re a Neal Asher fan then you know exactly what kind of crazy action you’re in for, but if you haven’t read his particular brand of military SF, now’s the time to jump in.

“Asher ventures into some terrifying minds and incredible space battles in this tangled but heart-pounding sequel, which achieves a rare success in depicting truly nonhuman forms of intelligence.”
Publishers Weekly

“What Asher delivers here is state-of-the-art SF on so many levels. . .a compelling, smart read.”
—Paul Di Filippo, Locus on Dark Intelligence

Enceladus Crisis, The - 9781597808590The Enceladus Crisis by Michael J. Martinez

New Mass Market Edition out May 3

The sequel to Martinez’s The Daedalus Incident continues the adventures of Lieutenants Thomas Weatherby and Shaila Jane. This time the journey spans from the deserts of Mars to the sands of Egypt and the rings of Saturn . . . dimensions collide again. The genre bending is just as crazy as before, and the stakes for both dimensions continue to ratchet ever upward. This edition includes an exclusive excerpt to Michael J. Martinez’s upcoming novel MJ-12: Inception!

“Riveting . . . a uniquely imaginative science fantasy tale.”
Publishers Weekly

“The sequel continues the first novel’s mix of alchemy, intrigue, mystery, science fiction and high adventure into an entertaining package. Mike Martinez’s The Enceladus Crisis avoids some of the pitfalls that many second novels face by trying some new things, and giving us some new facets of his interesting universe. . . . A follow up that manages to improve on the first in significant ways.”

New Paperback Edition out May 24

After many years of being unavailable (and highly sought after) in hardcover, Night Shade is excited to be able to release new paperback editions of our well-received Collected Fantasies of Clark Ashton Smith series. Smith is widely considered one of the greatest contributors to seminal pulp magazines such as Weird Tales. He helped define and shape “weird fiction” in the early twentieth century, alongside contemporaries H.P. Lovecraft and Robert E. Howard, drawing upon his background in poetry to convey an unparalleled richness of imagination and expression in his stories of the bizarre and fantastical. See this post for more information about Night Shade’s highly-regarded Collected Fantasies of Clark Ashton Smith.

A Vintage from Atlantis, the third in this five-volume series, includes all of Smith’s stories from “The Holiness of Azédarac” (1931) to “The God of the Asteroid” (1932), as well as an introduction by Michael Dirda.
