This just in from a regular reader of 'Nemonymous':
"Having just completed my initial reading of Zencore! Scriptus Innominatus, may I be (one of) the first to congratulate you on yet another bravura performance in gathering together in a single volume, if not the best, certainly a surprisingly solid and entertaining batch of fiction, shining examples all of them of what you call ‘the ominous imagination’, and of what another reader, in a gesture that might make Forry Ackerman proud, has astutely ascertained and dubbed to be ‘weirderature’. (I would go one step further, if you will allow it, and say that this issue’s contents more than ever before exhibit qualities and nuances both in substance and style that I have until now encountered only in the very best of ‘abnormalore’ throughout the ages.) You’ve easily surpassed previous issues in every way, not the least of which in the packaging, now handsomely trade-paperbacked and ever easy to handle, a move that will almost surely help propel Nemonymous into the hands of readers who are not either contributors or wannabe contributors, but that endangered species of honest-to-God readers who read just for the sake of reading. Of the stories themselves I’m a bit chary of pointing out my favorites and least favorites and fastidiously outlining my reasons for liking the ones I liked more than others, and not just because everyone will have his or her own favorites and be unswayed by anything I have to say, and vice versa; nor does it have anything to do with the anonymity factor, inadvertently fallating the writerly ego of someone I’ve possibly pilloried on other online venues, or anyone else for that matter. I offer simply to vouch for the book’s quality that practically everything between these covers is GOOD, and that anyone interested in weird fiction, and still anyone who is not, should buy a copy NOW." |
