I am thrilled to announce that Jim Minz at Tor Books has taken US/Canadian rights to my new novel, Shriek: An Afterword. It will be published in hardcover, followed by other incarnations.

I am equally thrilled to announce that Juliet Ulman at Bantam Books has taken US/Canadian rights to both Veniss Underground and City of Saints and Madmen, previously published by Prime Books/Wildside. Tentatively, Veniss will appear in trade paperback in late 2005, with City of Saints to follow in trade paperback in spring of 2006.

In addition, Prime Books has taken my book of interrelated micro stories, Secret Lives, for publication in spring of 2005. This will be a signed, numbered limited edition of 600 copies in hardcover (offset printing, not POD). It will be a beautiful little book, with a ribbon bookmark, special endpapers, and much else. A 26-copy lettered edition will also be produced, with additional extra features.

Congrats, Jeff! That is exciting news.

(And I know this should be on a different thread, but let me just add my congrats for that *great* news out of Gainesville today!)

Great news!

Any release date - even tentative - for SHRIEK?

Also, is the Secret Lives thing still running with Ziesing, or has that ended?

Thanks, all.

(Yeah, Deborah--while I feel sorry for Zook, I also was kinda cheering that news.)

Secret Lives with Ziesing has ended, but if you tell them I sent you and order within the next 24 hours, I'll honor it.

I'm not sure on Shriek yet. Rather not speculate until it's definitely set.

I'm afraid I'll have to nip this in the bud right now. Since JV & I now have a "professional" relationship, there'll be no more drinks, no more lavish meals, just bread, water, chains and the occasional inspirational lash of the whip. Gotta keep 'em in line once they've signed on the dotted line.--Oops, still waiting to get the signed contracts back. Um, nevermind.

I haven't been this psyched about signing up a book in quite a while. I've already got R&D working on crossing meerkats and squids to create the ultimate in freebies...the biggest problem is their ink keeps staining their fur. Any suggestions? The scotchguard seems to be of no use.

Minz: LOL!!!! Well, there goes the drink I was gonna phone in for you at WF, since I can't make it there in the squidflesh.

Thanks, Ellen, Jeff, Robert!

Congrats to both Jeff and Minz! Try badger oil, Minz, should help with the ink stains.

Jeff,
I can't tell you how glad I am to hear about your successes, vis-a-vi your deals with Bantam and Tor. Congratulations, and keep up the good work!

Sorry I won't see you this week in Tempe, but I'll be thinking about you.

Those deals sounds great. It will be nice to see your books in more stores.

So, when Bantam puts out City, what version will it be?

Hi Jeff

Are Pan Macmillan going to run with Shriek in the UK? Or is it too soon to talk about such things?

By the way, congratulations on the US deal.

Thanks, guys.

Yup, Neil. :-)

Richard--It's a bit too soon, although indications are currently positive. That's all I'm gonna say right now, though, for fear of jinxing it.

I am also hopeful about being able to announce a deal in France soon, and possibly in China.

Paul:

Thanks!

(Also, congrats on your novel. I know at one point we were both not sure we'd finish! I saw the excerpt from it in a sampler the publisher sent me--looks great.)

Yeah, definitely will sometime in 2005 we'll be up to NYC!

Dear Jeff,

Congratulations on your latest publishing contracts. I met Jeff Ford over the weekend at World Fantasy, and he mentioned that you'd "turned him on to" my novels, Fat White Vampire Blues and Bride of the Fat White Vampire. Just wanted to thank you much for the thumbs-up and recommendation! Meeting Jeff Ford was a blast, by the way. Hope I get a chance to meet you at some point during a trip to Florida (I grew up in North Miami Beach and still have relatives in South Florida and the Tampa area). I may make Odyssey Con in Orlando this coming year. Any chance you might be there?
